Quality Improvement and Patient Safety Program Expand Image The quality improvement and patient safety program in the department of anesthesiology at the University of Florida College of Medicine – Jacksonville works to ensure that patients receive the highest quality and safest care. Quality improvement is a vital part of every anesthesiologist’s day-to-day practice. Assuring that patients receive the highest quality and safest care is a vital part of our mission as a department. Our quality improvement program is multifaceted, as we provide real-time feedback to providers on several benchmarked metrics. Patient cases are reviewed and presented at a monthly Quality Grand Rounds so we can ensure we are providing the highest standard of care. Our resident learners receive a robust education in quality improvement, which includes earning of the Institutes for Healthcare Improvement’s Open School course on patient safety and Lean-Six Sigma Yellow Belt training. In addition, each resident will complete their own root case analysis and quality project during their training at UF Health.
