Throughout the anesthesiology residency, residents will develop a quality improvement and patient safety project. They work in teams under the mentorship of the director of quality improvement and associate chair for research on developing and eventually presenting these projects. This work, challenging case reports and other research projects are presented during the annual UF Research Day and at multiple meetings, including:

• Gulf Atlantic Anesthesia Residents Research Conference (GAARRC)
• Florida Society of Anesthesiologists (FSA)
• American Society for Regional Anesthesia (ASRA)
• Society for Education in Anesthesia (SEA)
• International Anesthesiology Research Society (IARS)
• American Society of Anesthesiology (ASA)

All of our residents are expected to present poster presentation, oral presentations, written case reports and/or papers. All of our residents will present their work at meetings. The department of anesthesiology provides annual funding to residents’ academic allowance that can cover the cost for residents to present at one major academic meeting each year of residency.
